The recipients were Addis Ababa Grain Traders Association, South Ethiopia Peoples' State (SNNPR) Unions' Federation and Gode (integrated project).
The equipments include moisture meters, probes of spears, portable sample dividers, forceps, weighing scales, fumigation sheets, knapsack sprayers, portable bag stitching machines, sets of sieves, multi crop grain cleaners, maize shellers, and manual maize shellers.
At the handing over ceremony, WFP deputy country director, Lynne Miller said the equipments would benefit nearly 500,000 farmers.
The director said the equipments will help the farmers to improve the quality of cereals.
She said WFP will donate 200,000 USD worth agricultural equipments within the next six months for the organizations.
SNNPR Union's Federation general manager, Yehualashet Aschenaki on his part said the equipments will help farmers to bring the cereals up to higher quality standards, which keeps cereals to have a longer shelf-life and higher nutritional value.
The manager said some eight unions members of the federation have been supplying maize and haricot bean to the WFP.
